Tsukihi no tasu nowa hayai desu ne

There is an old Japanese saying, "Ichi-gatsu wa iku, ni-gatsu wa nigeru, san-gatsu wa saru (January is going, February is running away and March is leaving)." It is kind of a play on word as the first letter of the name of the months and the first letter of the verbs (iku, nigeru and saru) start with a same sound. It indicates that the first three months of a year pass quickly.

Japanese Translation

月日のたつのは早いですね

古くからいわれている言葉に、”一月は行く、二月は逃げる、三月は去る”というものがあります。月と動詞の初めの音をかけている言葉遊びの一種です。年の初めの三ヶ月は早く過ぎてしまうということを意味しています。

Note: The translation is not always literal.
