Kanji Rule (9): Three Signifies Many

Pictures turned into kanji. The kanji simplified the picture. If there are many things, they were made into three. Three signifies many in kanji.

    shellfish

  • Reading
    Kun-reading: kai

  • Mnemonics
    The spiral-shelled shellfish is long and round, and has many spirals. There are three spirals in this kanji. Three signifies many.
